Speed
One kit. Endless games.
Objective
Be the first player to empty your hand and your personal draw deck.
Setup
Use a standard 52-card deck with jokers removed.
The Players: Two players sit facing each other.
Each Player Gets:
- A personal hand of 5 cards.
- A personal face-down draw pile of 15 cards (total 20 cards per player).
The Center Area:
- Two face-down single cards in the middle as the active play piles.
- Two face-down side piles of 5 cards each sitting next to the active piles, used as backup when players get stuck.
How to Play
No Turns: Both players play at the same time as fast as they can.
The Start: Both players flip one of the two center face-down cards face up to start the action.
Matching Rules: Play cards from your hand onto either center pile if your card is one rank higher or lower than the top card showing (suits do not matter).
Looping Aces: Aces are cyclical; you can play an Ace on a King or a 2, and a 2 or King on an Ace.
Refilling Your Hand: Whenever you play a card from your hand, immediately draw a replacement from your 15-card personal draw pile to keep 5 cards in your hand.
What Happens When You Get Stuck?
If neither player can make a move on either center pile, both players shout "1, 2, 3" or agree to flip the top card from each of the two 5-card side piles face up onto the center piles.
Play resumes immediately on the new center cards.
If the side backup piles run out and no one can play, pick up the large center piles, shuffle them, and lay down two new 5-card side piles.
Winning the Game
The first player to play all cards from their hand and draw pile shouts "Speed!" and wins the round or game.
